Today, my roommate suddenly stared at me and said, "Sin Yee, you are a pretty girl! " She applied a vague statement. What is the standard of the 'pretty' in her opinion? Why did she say so? 'Pretty' in what way? Internal or external? Well, but in the end she told me that actually she has night blindness, and she can't see very clearly during the night, so she have illusion that I am a pretty girl....

Mumbling....
Hooi Xing, was my roommate and also a FCM student. She was doing her assignment this morning. She was mumbling, "If there is inflation, then the price of goods will rise; if the price of goods rose, then the personal expenditure will increase; if the personal expenditure increased, then will lead to poverty. So, if inflation happen, then will cause poverty." She applied the chain argument to expand her ideas through brainstorming. And her words also shown the application of ad populum appeal to indirect consequences.

Is that possible?
Me and my friends decided to have our dinner at Street Mall this evening. While we are on our way to the bus stop, one of my friends, Yee Keng making joke on her friend, YY. She said that, "YY, you can fit yourself in this lamp post! " That is really funny. YY is a thin girl, so Yee Keng applied the simile to show that she is as slim as a lamp post. But, is that possible to fit a person in a lamp post?

Is that so?
While me and my friends are walking around in the campus after class, we saw a guy carried a luggage and he seemed to be rushing. Suddenly, YY said, "Why is he going back home on Saturday? " She made an assumption that he is going back home. But, maybe he was just helping his friend to carry the luggage instead of going back to his hometown.

How to describe??
Today, I was chatting with my friend, Tse Chien, about the payment of the tuition fees before the tutorial class. We are confused that whether the hostel fee is included or excluded from the tuition fees. I told her that i have asked a senior about this question during my aikido training yesterday. Suddenly, she asked me to describe how does the senior looks like. I am speechless, because i could recognise how does he looks like but hard to articulate it into languages. It shown the tacit knowledge.

Aikido Training Session
I attended the aikido training this evening. Ben was my partner during the warm up exercise. He used one of the aikido's techniques to grab my arm, and that is really painful. I wanted to cry when he twist my arm so hard without any sympathy. But, he claims that i should learn to get used to this level of pain. He applied the ad-hominem circumstantial fallacy to persuade me because he is the president of the aikido club.
After the warm up exercise, we start our aikido training. Sensei (coach) usually will do some demostration of the new techniques before he starts to train us. He will request all practitioners to observe his movements and techniques. Sensei acted as energetic as a little boy when doing the aikido's movements, even though he is already 57 years old. The application of simile has been shown.

Lunch at FCM Cafe
I went to FCM cafe to have my lunch this afternoon. There is a girl, next to my table, chatting with her friends. I overheard part of her conversation, she mentioned that her ex-boyfriend had always promised something but in the end do nothing at all. Therefore, she concluded that all guys easily made a promise to their girlfriends but in the end they done nothing. She made a hasty generalisation that all guys are the same just like how her ex-boyfriend treated her. Actually, not all guys do the same things. Some of the guys are shy to make a promise or a swear to their girlfriends. Instead, they will show their love through actual action rather than simply just make a promise.
